About the Artist
Lise Andrade Roskeland was born on a big island surrounded by fjords in the south-western part of Norway. She grew up on a small farm with her parents and siblings. Her family has lived in this beautiful and peaceful valley called Roskeland for many centuries.
From early childhood, she was introduced to the joy of drawing and painting. Her mother was very creative and made sure there was always an abundance of crayons, paint, pencils, and markers available for little art projects. This marked the beginning of a lifelong love for playing with colors, and awakened the mysterious “need” to add lines and colors to a blank canvas or paper.
Lise met her husband in New York City, and they eventually settled in Northeast Pennsylvania with their children and pets.
Painting and drawing has continued to play an important part in her life as an enjoyable and relaxing hobby, but also as a way to express, communicate and inspire. Through her art, she hopes to spark a sense of joy, hope, wonder and connection in those who experience it.
Her paintings are mostly abstract, using vibrant, acrylics. She is inspired by nature, animals, and the energy of colors. She also enjoys drawing with ink and using the milder and softer hues of watercolor.
Lise’s hope is to continue creating, learning and sharing her art, and most of all, to inspire others to do the same.
